S Scorpio is the transmuting depth — desire turned into power and renewal. It is the eighth of the twelve signs — a water sign held in the fixed mode, ruled by Mars, the desire-force — courage, drive, the will made active. It is a negative sign: it draws its energy in — receptive and self-contained, meeting the world by taking it in.
Its element is the ground of its nature.
